CV example: from weak to strong

Same teacher, same experience. Slide across the document and see the difference: vague sentences become concrete results, and a bare file becomes something that stands out.

Weak CV: a bare document with a vague profile and duties without results
Strong CV: the same story with concrete results, in one of our templates

What people say about their new CV

5/5review translated

β€œIt was nice that I could upload my old CV, so I didn't have to type in all the details again. The system took it over well. On top of that, I can adjust the layout completely to my own taste.”

β€œThis tool is perfect! I quickly got my old CV looking new again, received a matching cover letter and practical tips for the conversation with my future boss. Really recommend it.”

β€œHandy tool if you don't really know where to start. My CV became clearer and the job vacancy analysis gave me some good insights. I also found the salary advice interesting. Sometimes I thought the texts were a bit too formal and I adjusted them myself a bit. But as a basis, this is really a nice tool.”

β€œThe cover letter writer in particular surprised me. I'd always struggled to write a good letter myself. CV-Refresher used my experience and the job vacancy in a really logical way. In the end I was invited for an interview. The whole combination of CV, letter and salary advice makes it really complete.”

β€œI was applying for jobs again after a few years and didn't really know what my CV should look like these days. CV-Refresher gave me a clear starting point straight away. The combination with the job posting analysis works well. My CV became much more specific and I ended up getting invited for an interview. Very positive about the whole experience.”

β€œCV-Refresher helped me present my work experience much better. Some of the phrasing wasn't quite my own style, so I adjusted that. But content-wise the suggestions were strong. I especially found the analysis of my salary position valuable. I would definitely use the tool again for a future job application.”

β€œReally handy when you want to apply for a specific job. What I liked most was that the tool didn't just churn out a standard cover letter, but actually looked at my CV and the job listing. That made the letter feel much more personal. The salary report also gave me more confidence during the interview.”

β€œI've recently moved to the Netherlands and wanted to adapt my Polish CV for Dutch employers. CV-Refresher was particularly helpful with the structure and highlighting my relevant experience. The cover letter was also a good starting point. I still had to check some Dutch phrasing, but it saved me a lot of time.”

Built with privacy in mind

A CV is full of personal details, and that's exactly how we treat it: with the utmost care. Your CV lives in your own browser, and you don't need an account. We only use your details to create your document. It stays where it belongs: with you.

Frequently asked questions

What tools are there, and what do they do?

Four. Two of them create a CV: with Upload your CV you have your existing CV read and reformatted, and with Build your CV you fill one in yourself in four steps. There's also Write your cover letter, which writes a letter tailored to your CV and the vacancy, or checks a letter you've already written. And Negotiate your salary shows whether there's room to negotiate your salary, and how to go about it. You don't need to choose anything in advance: each tool works independently and you pay per result.

Is there a subscription?

No. You pay once for what you order. There's no recurring payment and no silent renewal. That's also set out in our terms and conditions, so we can't quietly go back on it.

Do I need an account?

No. There is no registration and no password. After ordering you get a personal link that takes you to your credits.

Can I see my CV or cover letter before I pay?

Yes, with the CV tool and the cover letter you see the full, formatted result on your screen for free and can adjust it straight away. You only pay to download it. With the free CV maker you get one basic CV as a PDF without paying anything; extra options for colour, photo and other templates cost money. The salary negotiation tool works differently: there, we generate the advice immediately after payment, because drawing up the advice itself is the paid service. There is no separate download step.

What is an ATS, and do your CVs work with it?

An ATS (Applicant Tracking System) is software that automatically reads and sorts job applications. Many large employers use it, and in the United States it's the first step almost everywhere. This kind of system doesn't read formatting, only text, and gets confused by columns, sidebars and a name placed in a coloured bar. That's why we've tested our templates ourselves: we turn them into a PDF and read it back the way an ATS would. The templates that come out well, 15 of 38, carry the ATS-friendly label. You can filter for this on the templates page.
