CV example: IT

This is what a strong CV looks like in this field, and why it is built that way.

Starter — IT

Little work experience, so the graduation research features as a full-fledged block: for a starter, that's the only substantive signal of specialisation. The stack is broken down granularly (language, framework, database, tooling separately) rather than 'backend experience', and each placement lists its scale — number of users, team size — because in IT that takes the place revenue figures hold in sales. There is no self-description such as 'eager to learn' or 'team player': what might have passed for that has been replaced by the committee she actually served on.

8+ years of experience — IT

With eleven years of experience, education becomes a checkbox and work experience the argument, so that comes first and education is reduced to a single line. The role from before 2015 is still listed, but without a task description — that is the rule for experience older than ten years. Every role states what was running in production and at what scale; things someone merely 'knows' are left out, as that cannot be backed up in an interview.
