CV example: IT

This is what a strong CV looks like in this field, and why it is built that way.

Starter in IT

You see a problem and immediately think in steps: what's happening, where does it go wrong, what do I try first. That's exactly what an employer is looking for, it just rarely appears on a CV. Here it does. You still have little work experience, so your dissertation project is your strongest argument. That's why it appears as a full section rather than a footnote to your education. List your stack per component instead of 'experience with backend', and add the scale: how many users, how big the team. In IT, that does what turnover figures do in sales. 'Eager to learn' can go: every starter since the dawn of time has written that down.

8+ years of experience in IT

You're the one who knows why the system is the way it is, and what falls over if you pull on it. That knowledge is in your head; this CV brings it out. Somewhere around the ten-year mark, things tip: your education becomes a box to tick and your work experience becomes the whole argument. That's why it comes first here, with your degree on a single line. What you did before 2015 can stay, but without a task list. Nobody asks for that any more. And write down what actually ran in production, not what you 'know': the latter survives exactly one follow-up question.
